Hi there - Thought I would give you an update on my stop smoking progress - It has now been over five weeks since I had a cigarette - Woo Hoo - Did it totally cold turkey - from two packs a day to zilc!!!!! Overall health is vastly improved - Thanks to you all for your support and suggestions - I wouldnt have thought to check out a support group for non smoking without you telling me. Diabetes still seems to be under control - Best news of all - havent put on ANY weight since stopping smoking - havent lost any either though despite rigid adherence to meal plan - still that will have to wait till later. Again thank you all......

Joules, Great Job! You will find it is one of the best things you could ever do for yourself. You will experience a freedom that you did not even know you lacked! I quit when I was in my early twenties (am 57 now) and hubby was so impressed he quit. Keep it up, YAY! GOOD JOB. Donna

Joules, you have my utmost admiration quitting smoking. Even though I've never smoked, everyone in my family did. My parents couldn't get rid of the habit till the days they died but my sister and brother quit. I saw what they went through and it was tough. So, congratulations. You'll be healthier and wealthier with all the money saved!

You have done the hardest part of the quitting. Now just be alert for the surprise 'need a cigg' events. I quit in April and was doing very well. Got thru the no cigg in the car, no cigg with coffee, no cigg while reading the paper, no cigg while paying my bills.... you get the picture. Then, in June we went up north and set up the trailer for the first weekend of camping. Got finished and I was looking for my weeds! Always used to have one by the fire after setting up the trailer. Found out I had a whole summer of booby traps waiting for me.
