Oh! Then it's understandable about why you took the tolerance test. Your doctor might refer you to an endocrinologist and some sessions with a nutritionist. In any case, it would be wise for you to do a few things for yourself in the meantime. Get active and exercise and walk everyday unless you're already doing that; change your diet to more vegetables and protein; don't eat so much of the complex or simple carbohydrates; get a glucose monitor and write down exactly what you eat and when and test your blood daily which will tell you what your levels are and makes them go up or down. Finally, read all you can about diabetes here on the forum, online and in books. There's a lot of information available. Since it's in your family, they should be able to help you understand it all too. But, just reading through all the posts here on this forum will be very enlightening. Do all of this and follow what the doctor says. Don't forget that everyone here is dealing with the same thing, so there's a lot of knowledge and support when you need it. Best wishes!
