DIABETES FRIENDS

  HELLO MY NAME IS DAWN AND I AM A 49 YEAR OLD DISABLED WOMAN. I ALSO  HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. ALMOST 3 WEEKS AGO I FOUND OUT THAT I HAVE DIABETES. I THANK GOD THAT I ONLY HAVE TO TAKE THE PILLS. I AM SEEKING BOTH MALE AND FEMALE  EMAIL FRIENDS THAT HAVE DIABETES. NEWT WEEK I GO TO MY FIRST DIABETES CLASS.HOPE TO MAKE FRIENDS SOON. THANKS,DAWN

A gentle reminder, please post in lower case letters. All caps is difficult to read and is against forum rules. That being said, welcome to HealingWell. I have a "Thank God" thing also, and that is that there is insulin for me to take so I can control my blood sugars. I was taking only pills for about 10 years and didn't want to go on insulin. I watched my neighbor lose a leg and then her life to complications of diabetes...

Now I am very happy to have that wonder drug to slip into my hip or tummy and watch my morning numbers be 94 or 105. I pray that you can keep good control and learn lots at your diabetes class. If possible, take a friend or significant other along to the class. (Most classes will allow this without extra cost.) This way you will have another set of ears along to help you remember all the stuff there is to remember.

There is lots to learn about your disease so don't be a stranger here. Read back in the past posts and see how others have found ways to stay on track and keep their sugars inline. Glad to make you as a new friend, but sorry about the reason.
