Neuropathy and medicine

My doctor believes I have neuropathy and it may be part of the reason for diarreha. I know I have UC and that has been confirmed but I get tingling on my lips and my feet are starting to give me problems. I take insulin shots twice a day and the doctor mentioned RX for it but says there are a lot of side effects.

Anybody out there take medicine for neuropathy and if so what side effects have you experienced.?

I'm sorry that no one has answered you yet. Many of us have been on holiday. I have mild neuropathy in my feet and hands but do not take meds for it as yet. Before you start on meds for the D, I'd check it out with a gasteroenterologist. There are many reasons for diarrhea including everything from Crohnes to food alergies to gluten intolerance to viruses. I believe that saying your diarrhea is caused by your neuropathy without checking out all the possibilities may be a bit hasty. Sounds to me like a second opinion is in order.

Thanks for the response.

I have had colonosopy and have been taking meds for years for the colitis but the neuropathy has been recent.

I know I have inflamed colon but neuropathy may be a contributor the sugar doctor says.

My diet is lousy so that also is a factor.

What does anyone take for neuropathy?
