Hi all,
I am turning 62 soon and having to select a supplemental plan to Medicare and choose a D prescription plan. Does anyone have any proposal for me? I am concerned that the prescription plan will give me generic thyroid meds instead of brand. I have called several and they say that they will not if my doctor has prescribed brand. Any experience here will be of great help.

I am 52 and have been on Medicare for several years. My Medicare supplemental insurance is United American and my D prescription plan is through Advantra Rx. Through Advantra I chose the Premier Plus Plan which is the highest level as it best suited my needs. Both plans have served me quite well. I hope this will help you in some way.

I have been on thyroid for several years and been without any health insurance for about four years. I have found that the generic thyroid that I get from Sam's Club/Walmart works just fine in keeping my thyroid levels ok, and it's only $4.00 a month. You may want to look into the generics for cost effectiveness.

  Just wanted to say that I have the humana from medicare and I can get the genetic for a 1.00 co pay or I can have the name brand for 3.00 co pay. hope that helps you.  linda
