kclay: I am a type 2 diabetic and have controlled my disease for 7 years with natural remedies. In my opinion if you can control with nautural remedies you are much better off as natural remedies do not have the side effects as prescription meds.
I started 6 months ago seeing a homepathic doctor that specializes in nutrional therapy and that has been a good investment on my part. He added some minerals and vitamins to my protocol that I was not taking before seeing him and it has made tremendous difference in the way I feel. My last visit last week, blood test were drawn and the results came back normal for everything.
One very important thing for diabetics is diet. I do not eat any fried foods, no starch such as potatoes, white bread etc. no dried fruit and limited amount of fresh fruit. I eliminated coffee and had a blood test for food allergies and eliminated all that I was allergic to.
There are a lot of web sites that can provide info on alternative medicine and I would suggest you seek out the information about the natural remedies and if possible see a doctor that specializes in natural remedies. It would be much easier if you do not have the knowledge yourself. And with natural remedies, it is just like with medications, some are trial and error. What works for one person may not work for another.
If I can be of further assistance, let me know. Good luck to you and your mother.
