Hi Board Members,
Usually I cling to my homies over on the Ulcerative Colitis board but today I need advice from you fine folks over in Diabetes.
I'm a chunky gal with a lousy profile for type II Diabetes. Parents, grandparents, etc. But not brothers or sisters yet and some are older than me. I'm 53, 214 pounds but an AVID exercise junkie. I can elliptical for an hour and my resting heart rate is about
60 and my blood pressure is normal. I exercise 5-6 times a week.
The doctor's office called a week ago to say that my fasting blood sugar is 105 which represents a 5 point rise over the last year. They want me in for a glucose tolerance test.
I DON'T want diabetes to appear on my charts anywhere. It makes it impossible to get life insurance and makes me a statistic that I DON'T want to join.
Having just cared for my diabetic mom for the last 7 months until Hospice took over I have her testing kit and supplies on hand as well as the expertise to use them.
Yep - I'm waking up with 99, 105, 103, 107 (fasting) consistently. Curiously if I drink a cup of coffee and go to the gym for an hour it CLIMBS 5 or 6 points without eating anything.
Last night I was a cracker eater after a normal dinner. about
40 of the cinnamon wheat thins and 2 hours later I hit 168.
Am I in trouble? I don't want to go anywhere near the lab until I peel off at least 15 pounds. I can do that in a month I think.
Will the delay hurt me? Am I in trouble right now?
Med profile shows Celebrex and Methotrexate. Those are for colitic arthropothy. Joint pain and stiffness associated with Colitis.
I don't need one more strike on my health.
Shaking in her shoes,
Rot Gut, I changed your subject line so you can get more responses.
