Jeannie wrote a couple of weeks ago suggesting we diabetics go and get our flu shots.   I thoroughly agree -  However, just as important is to get a pneumonia shot.   I have just gotten out of the hospital after being on life support of five days and in a ward for two weeks as a result of catching pneumonia with a partially collapsed lung.    Apparently this particular strain gears itself towards the diabetic and there is very dangerous.   Fortunantely up here in Canada there is a govenment paid for vaccine available (I wasnt aware of this)...... So - please - talk to your doctors and get yourself protected - this just isnt any fun...........

Oh, Joules! And we didn't even notice you were missing!!! Please, next time you're in a bad way please have a family member or friend email one of the mods, ok? I get my pneumonia shot every 5 yrs. but I didn't know that there was a special bug out there for us diabetics. shocked

Take care of yourself and go slow. Don't want a relapse!

Oh gee, I was wondering where you went!  Good grief.  I'm sorry you were so sick.  Pneumonia is so dangerous.  I believe the pneumonia shot lasts for 10 years.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.  Take care and stay warm.

At the moment I am feeling as weak as a kitten - have no energy but am forcing myself to keep moving because I so firmly believe that is the secret to a fast recovery - Please please get your shots..... My doctor ordered mine the moment he heard I was on life support (tee hee)......

I hope this doesn't sound bossy but please, after pneumonia you have to let your body dictate your rest periods and DO NOT FORCE YOURSELF! This is from a lady who also had a life threatening case of pneumonia and I had to morph into a NON-TYPE A personality overnight... either that or die! Please rest more than you think you should so you can get your body built up a bit before the bad winter winds arrive.

Get some good books, rent some movies, take up knitting, anything that is restful. I never fully recovered from my pneumonia because it threw my fibromyalgia into high gear and left me with a nasty case of asthma. Not what you want to do, believe me! So glad that you pulled through. We value your input on the forum.
