I recently switched from Lantus to Levemir.  When I took the Lantus, I only took it at bedtime, but with the Levemir, I take take some at bedtime and some at lunchtime along with my Humulog.  My question is, when I go out to lunch with someone, I find it uncomfortable taking 2 injections.  Taking one injection doesn't bother me, but I feel more self conscious when I take two injections even though they are with pen needles.  Is it OK to take the Levemir before I leave my house and then just take the Humulog at the restaurant when my lunch is served?  If I take the Levemir at home, It could take 1 - 2 hours after injection before I eat my lunch. confused

I think that would work perfectly fine, Tweety.

Since Levemir is your basal insulin, it's job is to keep your blood sugars level between meals. It's not really that interested in what you have for lunch. If you are having 2 basal injections daily, the gap between them is not that critical - as long as it is consistent.

Neither Lantus nor Levemir actually works for 24 hours for most people incidentally.
