Low blood sugar symtoms

Hello Shiva.boodoo.  Your friend needs to be assessed by doctors.  I'm sure there are several lab tests that need to be done and the sooner she sees her doctor to discuss all this, the better.  Remember that we are not doctors here on this Forum.

If your friend is experiencing low blood sugar symptoms but her blood sugar is normal, I suppose this means she is dizzy, disoriented, shaking, sweaty and possibly fainting.  If all blood tests show a normal blood sugar level (and if she's been given a glucose tolerance test and other blood and urine tests to rule out diabetes), then the doctors have to look for other clinical tests for her.  Low blood pressure can also cause those symptoms.  It's possible she is suffering from a disease or other condition - which is why she needs more tests.  She should insist on this.  Good luck.

Has she had her blood sugar checked when she is actually experiencing the symptoms? I have hypoglycemia and my blood sugar drops and gives me symptoms. Unless I am having symptoms, my blood sugar is normal.

Your friend can try a hypoglycemic diet and see if that helps. She should eat every 2 or 3 hours from when she gets up to when she goes to bed. This would probably be 3 meals plus 3 snacks a day. All meals should have protein, low glycemic carbs, and healthy fat. Stay away from soda, bread, pasta, cake, ice cream, etc. Meals and snacks should be small so she doesn't start to gain weight.

Breakfast should be eaten shortly after waking up. She should have a small snack about an hour before bed. If she wakes up in the middle of the night with low symptoms, she can keep a snack by the bed. She should eat "by the clock" and not wait until she is hungry.

I've been living this way for about 20 years. I've had a lot of tests and nothing has ever shown up. I control my symptoms with diet and I always have food with me (nuts are great snacks.)
