Well, beer does have some carbohydrates, lots of calories and usually a low amount of alcohol. Alcohol in itself should lower blood glucose, I have heard, but I have never really experienced that effect or really tried to discover what it does myself. I've also never had more than 3 beers or a few shots in a day. In any case, beer does not lower my blood glucose, it just messes with my system in other ways.. For beers with high amount alcohol and wines with no extra sugar, this might be the case though. However, come to think of it, I've never had a glass of wine on an empty stomach, so I can't tell. Diabetics shouldn't drink on an empty stomach. Well, it's better to not drink alcohol at all because of those other problems, but it's not forbidden either. Everything in moderation, and again, everyone is different..
