If it is not very severe, give it a couple of weeks and if it still has not gone away call your doctor and let him/her know. If the sore throat is bad or get worse call your doctor ASAP.
The side effects of most medications will start to go away within 1-2 weeks and usually disappear all together within 2-3 weeks. They may return with any changes in dosing, so if they do vanish and your med gets upped do not be surprised if some side effects return for a short time.
I have never been on Januvia myself, so all I can offer is general advice and information.
I am sure you know this but here is what is what to watch out for and what to do:
Stop taking Januvia and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
*
pancreatitis; - severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, fast heart rate; or
*
fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash.
Less serious Januvia side effects may include:
*
runny or stuffy nose, sore throat;
*
headache; or
*
nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea.
