Pump and a swimsuit

Ok fashion people if I bring the pump with me when we go down south, I wear swim trunks so they are not really short how would you wear a pump with them, I was looking at the thigh thingy, but don't know how reliable it is or do you have any other suggestions  

Oh yea, we do a lot of beach walking so it has to be able to stay up 

I think it all depends on the size of the pump

My DH has the pump and he was told by the trainer that there are certain times you have to disconnect the pump. The piece that inserts into you remains and you put a special cap on to seal it. You turn off the machine & take the 'pump' and the connecting hose off and put it somewhere safe and dry. You wouldn't wear the pump into the shower, beach, or at intimate times. Of course, you can only be disconnected for so long, since you are on a constant flow of short term insulin. He doesn't use any long term insulin at all.

If you are just walking around you can still keep the pump connected and have the clip attach to either your belt or waistband. The pump just can't get wet.

My DHs pump is about the size of a cell phone, he uses a cell phone pouch to connect it to his belt or waistband.

Okay.  I don't know if you are a big guy or not but I have an ostomy and I wear spandex underwear to hold the pouch in place.  I get them at Walmart.  They are actually made for women but you probably could wear them, too.  Have your wife pick them out...and don't get pink! 

 

Also, at medical supply places or online,  you can get ostomy support belts.  This could hold your pump in place, too.  Here is a link about one type.

They make support belts for the insulin pumps. Just do a Google search for them or go in and talk to your local medical supply store or pharmacy.

These belts are made out of either elastic or canvas. Some come with a pouch to put your pump in and others you just clip your pump to it.

Well that last post on this thread things were going well then, ended up in the Hospital in Barbados seems one of the stent got blocked   and proceeded to give me another Heart Attack, maybe brought on by me also walking to much scary situation, we go into detail in another thread

If you are testing the Ping, why not look at the OmniPod? No tubes, no disconnect, no problem!!!

Good grief.  Pneumonia!?  I hope you're doing better now.  What medications are you taking for it?

 

Unbelieveable and unfortunate what has been going on with you health-wise Will.  Very sorry to hear it.  I hope that your recovery and better health knocks at your door soon.

You are not in a good state right now but ask the Pump Educator at the hospital when you are feeling better if she could pass you onto an Omni if you think that it would be more beneficial to you.  I could be wrong but I think they are available to Ontarians now through the gov.  Please take care and keep us updated.

Right!  No news is usually good news.  I'll take your word for it since I've never had a PET scan, that I know of.  Good to hear that your sugars are stablizing too.

Perhaps it was the Sens first playoff game that made you feel bad.  It sure did for me.  Thank goodness they evened it out last night.

Lets see if I can explain this properly, you go into this cold room with two technicians and one big x-ray machine, they inject dye (want to spell that properly) into you vein, you wait a bit, then they take pictures of your heart that takes about 20 minutes (while your arms are over your head ouch) then they inject some meds into your vein again this time making your heart stress out (I think I rather be on a treadmill ) and take pictures at the same time, still haven't heard anything, not loaded on the computer yet
