Welcome to the Forum, Whatthe. I made your post a new one because we like to keep really old posts back where they were and as a new member looking for responses, it's better to start your own post.
Did the EMTs take your blood sugar? They normally do that when someone passes out. Do you know what it was? Have you seen a doctor about this? I realize you're probably out of sorts because you're in temporary living quarters. I hope your family is ok.
First of all, only blood tests can determine if you passed out because of diabetes/high or low blood sugar. Who is diabetic in your family? Are you overweight? What do you normally eat at meals?
You need to have some blood work done to see what your blood sugar is. Since you're uprooted for awhile with the flooding, and if you can't get to your doctor for these tests, you can buy an inexpensive blood sugar meter at WalMart and test yourself.
In the meantime, if I were you, I would eat regular meals at regular times and stay away from too much bread, cakes, cookies, potatoes. Eat healthy food: a protein and veggies, salad. If you passed out because of low blood sugar, having regular meals will help. If you passed out because your blood sugar was sky high, you absolutely need to cut out those carbs (which will help stop blood sugar rise) and get to see any doctor as soon as possible.
Please keep posting.
