My blood sugar wont come down!?

I don't use insulin and I'm not a doctor. Please go back to your doctor and have your meds and/or dosage re-evaluated. Living with blood sugar than high is very dangerous and can cause irreversible organ damage after years of high blood sugar.

If your regular doctor cannot do this, please see an endocrinologist. This is a specialist and will be able to help you. I hope.

Also, you can help yourself a lot if you go on a very low carb diet which should lower the amount of insulin needed. Please see you doctor as soon as possible.

Some people with Levemir are forced to increase rapid acting insulin a lot or doseage in general. You might want to consider other types of insulin. At least when I changed back to Lantus, I had to drop the doseage of both rapid acting and the Lantus or I would go hypo. If the high blood glucose has just come up with no particular reason, no changes in other medication, ask a doctor. It could be about injection sites too.

I already had a good balance with Levemir though, but my doseage was Levemir twice a day, totalling over 70 units, and rapid acting I took 18 units per large meals, and 10 for each snack. I'm not even overweight, so that doseage was ridiculous... I'm male, more than twice your age though. My body weight does still increase insulin demands a bit. Still I am now taking 20 units less of Lantus than I used to take Levemir per day, but I didn't get the lab results back yet to see how this worked out. Don't make hasty changes to your doseage, ask a doctor first. Keep measuring often, before and after meals.
