Hello BooPuppy (I like that name, too!) Well, I'm glad you found out about
the diabetes even if it was by accident. Yes, those are very high blood sugar readings.
As far as a doctor, I agree with Will. I would stay with the temporary one if you can and get an appointment with the MD in September.
In the meantime, you can learn a LOT here about
how to get your blood sugar down to better numbers. Please read the two stickies pinned to the top of the Diabetes Forum for information about
food and meters.
As a type 2, you should know that diet and exercise have a direct effect on your blood sugar, so I would suggest keeping a daily log of your readings with the time, food you eat at meals and any activity you might be doing. This log will show you how you react to certain food.
Basically the more carbohydrates you eat, the higher the blood sugar will rise. This is because diabetics do not metabolize carbs efficiently.
I will be back later and post some links for you but in the meantime I'm going to eat dinner, which is: part of a chicken breast (it's just too big), sauteed mushrooms and onions, zucchini noodles (These are thin slices of zucchini made with a vegetable peeler.) and a little salad plate of cucumber and tomato slices and a couple of pieces of cheddar, with a glass of wine and a glass of water.
