Hi and welcome to the Diabetes forum, montebellas mom. There are several members here that are also chronic pain patients and diabetics and I hope they will post and that you all can share experiences. I have only had to deal with bursitis pain intermittently and with the steroid shots and pills that did indeed cause really high blood sugar - but this has not been a constant problem for me, so the best I can advise you on is your diet.
No matter what type diabetic you are (type 1 or 2) or what type meds you are on, what you eat has an immediate and long-term affect on your blood sugar. In short, the more carbs you eat, the higher your blood sugar will be, and the more insulin you will need to take. Pain will cause higher blood sugar just as the steroids will but you can help counter that by cutting way down on carbs.
There are two stickies pinned to the top of our forum that help you understand diet and blood sugar.
Can you give me an idea of what you eat on a daily basis?
