This is my first post on this or any other forum.
Hello to all and thank you for any anyput regarding the following:
I recently had a physical(one month ago)....my blood work was normal (although cholesterol WAS 213!).
....but my FPG was 113; A1C 5.7 (doctor ordered this after seeing the 113).
He pronounced that I had IFG and turned in that diagnostic code. I have NEVER had anything but completely normal blood work in my life (I'm 58).
He told me NOT to get a glucose monitor, but gave the common sense instructions to eat better, lose 10-15 lbs. and continue my power-walking regimen; then return in three months.
I DID (naughty me!) get a daily glucose monitor, and after 2-3 weeks my fasting average is 94 (with a couple of 100's and 99's) and PPG is averaging around 92, with randoms 90 or less.
After reading everything on Google that I can find, I'm still confused.....I've lost 15 lbs., I'm checking every label on food and eating tons of veggies, fruits......although I don't think I'm getting ENOUGH carbs....can this actually have an increasing effect on blood sugar? (I read in one article that it can)
Should I be concerned? I tend to be a hypochondriac anyway....but have become truly obssessed with my BG!
Also....is FBG the most important reading?? I read an article by a doctor that said PPG consistently good is
just as accurate a picture over the long haul.....
....SORRY for the length of this post....I'm a newbie......
Again.....ANY input would be greatly appreciated.....I wish my doctor had been more forthcoming w/information.
Thank you!!
