Good idea! I've also found if I order the chicken and vegetables or beef and vegetables meal it's usually bare meat without breading and tons of veggies. I use my rice as a condiment (2 tablespoons) instead of a base. That way I get some of the rice without spiking my sugars. I feed the leftover rice to my non-diabetic family or my dogs.
Since all asian take out is fixed on the spot you can usually tell them what you want. If you ask for no cornstarch, no sugar, extra ginger, extra hot sauce they can prepare it that way. Most times all you have to do is ask.
