So I've been baffling my doctors for a year now. I had the 6 hour test where they measured my glucose and my insulin levels every hour, at hour 3 I crashed my sugars dropped to 40 and I was sweating and shaking and wanting to vomit, they stopped the test and said I have hypoglycemia put me on metformin and told me to come back in 6 months. My a1c test always looks normal because I have highs and lows which make it appear that I'm normal. Last night my sugars jumped to 300 then plummeted to 40, I was alone and I passed out, woke up 3 hours later drenched in sweat with a blood glucose of 158 still. I'm afraid that things are getting worse and I may be developing full blown diabetes. It runs in my family heavily and I had gestational diabetes pretty bad with my kids.
What can I do when my glucose is too high? I use glucose when it gets low but why the highs then the drops? I'm not on insulin yet. I do eat healthy have tried every diet to control this, I've seen many dietitians and they are at a loss as to what is going on with me....any advise?
