We are from England. My wife is 43 years old, insulin dependant diabetic (Novorapid and Glargine) and in good health at 5' 4" and just under 9 stone. She goes for a check up a couple of times a year at the hospital and last year they told her to take a statin to control her cholesterol. I am not happy with her taking these drugs as they not only block the bad fats but also the good ones. This will cause disorder in her muscles and joints. She is not going to take them.
It annoys me that they are tarring all diabetics with the same brush and dishing out these drugs and not spending a bit more time finding out if each diabetic REALLY needs to take these drugs!
I know an old lady who had a terrible experience with the side effects associated with these statins and I don't want my healthy wife to suffer from the same effects.
Anybody else had any experiences with this? Thanks.
