Welcome back! I'm glad you've gotten control of things! I know in the beginning it's hard or, at least, hard to understand, but with time and testing you will know how you react to different food.
The basics of how to keep blood sugar under control are food and exercise. Food: the more carbs you eat, the higher the blood sugar will be. Exercise: this helps control blood sugar and the best way is regular and sustained exercise like walking for 30 minutes (or swimming, biking, dancing, etc.) Using weights like hand-held weights also help by strengthening muscles. Muscles need more glucose just because they are muscles.
about
wine. I don't know how wine will affect your blood sugar now that you are on Glimepiride. Dry wine (not sweetened or fortified like sherry or vermouth) will lower blood sugar, so people taking diabetes medication (insulin especially) should drink wine with caution. And always have wine with food. If you drink too much wine, it's possible your blood sugar would go too low but that depends on the wine, what you eat, how much wine, your medication....
Mixed drinks can be a problem because of the mixers which often have sugar.
I will have a glass of white wine with dinner on occasion but, again, I have to be careful of what is offered.
I hope you have a choice of food at the company party this weekend. I would not eat pasta. I would eat whatever meat is offered, probably the sauce, salad and vegetables. Most Italian restaurants now serve what they call "Italian spinach" and that would be fine. In my own life, I've had meatballs and sauce on top of zucchini noodles and it was perfectly fine but that was at home. In a restaurant I would eat that as it is on my plate.
Good luck and I hope everything is going well! Thank you for the update, too! Seems like you're doing great!
