Thank you for sharing your story. I am so sorry you have had to go thru all that…I can't imagine the physical and emotional pain you have been thru. This is the first time I have been on this board, the title of your post caught my attention--
I have 3 friends who have diabetes (that I know about). One is type 1 and has an insulin pump, she watches what she eats and takes very good care of herself. One (type 2) does insulin injections, but still eats quite a bit of sugar and carbs. And the third (type 2) is on metformin, but rarely takes it because she says her A1-C levels have been very good. She is actually a carrier of MRSA, not sure if that means she can spread it or whether she can get it herself or what. I think i will research that. Oh, and the 3rd one doesn't even take her blood sugars anymore because her glucometer doesn't work well. Just want to shake her sometimes and tell her that so many of her health problems could be preventable or treatable if she just took better care of herself and went to the doctor when problems arise. They are all good about wound care, which i am happy about, but still. They are not taking care of themselves (well the last two I mentioned)
Sorry to make this so long. I think I will share your story with them as a wake up call for what could happen to them if they don't get off their butts and take responsibility for their diseases. I know it's nothing to mess with. They seem to think they are invincible.
Again, thank you for sharing your story. I know you have been thru more than anyone can fathom, and i'm so sorry to hear of that. I guess I just wanted you to know that by sharing your story, you WILL help prevent this from happening to someone else. You will likely save a life.
God bless you,
