Welcome back, MizPiggy. I believe you had posted a year ago about
your son's A1c tests being elevated at that time. So, now, after a year, the doctor is still on a "wait and see" plan?
If I were you, I would take him to an endocrinologist and make sure this specialist sees children. I do not have confidence in your son's doctor if nothing has been done after a year!
Here is a link to the Mayo Clinic's page on diabetes in children, which is type 1. I believe they don't refer to it as 'juvenile diabetes' anymore.
If you son were very overweight and had those elevated A1c results, I would say it points to type 2, but if you're saying he's 70 lbs, it seems like he is on the small side. Is he? If you read the Mayo site, do you see any familiar symptoms?
So, I do think you are right to be concerned about
him and after doing nothing for
one year, I think your doctor needs to be changed!
