Gramm, re salad dressings: no oil & vinegar for me! Check the labels, Kraft "Lite Done Rite" is in my fridge right now: 3 gms carbs/2 gms sugar. When out, I'll choose regular Ranch over Honey Mustard - a packet of Paul Newman's Ranch (McDonald's?) has 4 gms sugar. And I love mayonnaise! Hellman's Lite. Cabbage, onion, green pepper, plus Hellman's, makes good slaw. Prepackaged slaw has carrots, which are both sweet and hard on my colostomy, so not often on my menu. I don't keep pickled beets at home (check the sugar grms on the label!), but will sometimes splurge and have a few slices on my salad when eating out.
Enjoy those no carb rib eyes... I just have to remind myself that a serving isn't the 10 or 12 oz size - hard for a carnivore! What sends my bs into the clouds is everything WHITE... rice, pasta, bread, potatos, anything made with white flour. Those things I try to avoid.
Prunes are high in sugar; an apple would be better. I don't often eat cereal (prefer bacon & eggs) but do have Fibre One on hand. If you are cooking just for yourself then spend some time browsing in the frozen section, too - check the carb/sugar numbers and find the low ones that, with a salad, make a meal.
There was a thread on here recently with soup recipes - keep reading earlier posts. You just got you're diagnosis; I'm impressed with your motivation. You'll do fine!
