There is a nice book called the Insulin Resistance Diet that is very easy to read and follow. The theory is that you link proteins and carbs. There is guidance about
food choices too. Even though I am a type 2 diabetic with a PhD in biochemistry, I could not make sense of, or easily follow the Diabetes Association diet. I spent a lot of $$$ on a dietitian because my health insurance doesn't pay for nutritional guidance. I gained weight and my sugars stayed way too high. Since I began to use the Insulin-Resistance approach- I no longer agonize about
my diet, my BG levels are consistently in the 80-100 range and don't rise above 125 or so even after a BIG meal. A good friend with pre-diabetes who is my support buddy was pleased to learn that her fasting and A1c have dropped to a normal level, her lipid profile and her BP alos improved even though she did not lose weight! sandy
