Changing From Glucophage

I've been using Glucophage for 6 years now and I read a few references here that say after about 5 years it starts to lose it's effectiveness. That seems to be happening in my case. Those that have switched to another drug, what did you switch to and does it work better for you?

Hi,

Typically as the effectiveness of metformin starts to wane, another drug is added to the mix so you are not on monotherapy anymore. The success of adding Glipizide or a drug of the class that stimulates insulin production is very high and extends the usefulness of taking metformin.

Thank you Warren ... it so happens that I have an appointment to see my doc tomorrow and will ask what he would recommend. My numbers are not so bad compared to others here (I don't like going over 130, but it is happening too often nowadays) so the doc might just increase my doseage. We'll see.
