Hi there - not sure if giving up smoking actually reduces blood sugar - I think that was through diet exercise and meds - but I could be wrong there - stopping smoking does improve circulation however. Diabetes and smoking are both contributing agents to poor circulation - as you know one of the big dangers for diabetic is neuropathy (think thats how you spell it) and there is great danger for amputation of extremities. I am soooo glad you have set a quit date - The best advice I ever got from this site was to check out a quit smoking support group - I joined Quit Smoking Journals - they are a great bunch of people there and have certainly helped me....... I cant tell you how much better I feel generally after getting my sugars under control - losing weight (25 lbs) and stopping smoking - it makes a ton of difference....... I lost the 25 lbs before I stopped smoking.........I was a two pack a day gal and quit cold turkey - just so you know - it is possible!!!! I would be pleased to help you in any way I can....
