Hi,
Well since last posting I mentioned that I have an ileostomy and my med was going right through me whole. I went to the doctor this am and stated that I spoke with an ostomy nurse who said "ostomates cannot take time released pills because we do not have a colon, it does not have enough time to break down in the system" that solved I told my doctor, she was quite enlightened. I showed her my numbers for the past week. Without meds(she told me to stop taking the GlucotrolXL) my numbers were between 90-140. She looked shocked when she saw them and said considering my first glucose last week was 377 this was a VERY good sign. I told her I have taken carbs out of my diet, exercise every day and HAVE LOST 3 lbs SINCE LAST WEEK!!! YEAH! She actually sat shaking her head and said "wow, you are doing better then me" since she is also a diabetic....hmmmm. Anyway, she switched me to Glipizide 10mg and said to try that I told her I refused to take insulin right now and want to try something different so she agreed. She also gave me a script for Advantia in case the other does not seem to work for some reason. She said to continue to check my numbers and see how it goes. She also said she wished half her patients were as diligent as I am about all of this. I will be attending a diabetes education class also in the coming weeks. I know I can kick this thing in the butt and keep it that way! I know its not going to be a cure, but with control anything is possible! YEAH ME!
