Januvia was released last November. It's a DPPIV inhibitor which means that it slows down the rate of gastric emptying- so your blood glucose doesn't spike. I think it also encourages your liver to decrease glucose output. My doctor loves it because it is weight neutral and has very few reported side effects. i have been taking it on a trial basis for about 3 weeks now. So far, my fastings are up from 85 to 94, but my after meals are very good- in the low 100's at the 2 hour mark, and back to high 70's -low 80's by the 3 hour mark. I have been eating a lot of carby meals because I am traveling and I have not been higher than 117 after a meal-so i am happy. I am taking this in place of Metformin- so far so good!
Good luck!
