any juices out there

I really miss Juice. Are they any juices out there if you have constantly high BS.  Thanks again!

What about real juices? Which have the lower effect on BS?

Tomato juice and V-8 (the tomato variety, NOT the fusion or fruit mix) are ok.

Are you having any luck finding a doctor yet? Your high sugars (over 150) are doing permanent damage to your eyes, kidneys and feet as I write this. You really need to find a way to see a physician, even if it's at some kind of free clinic.

One thing you could try is Catholic Social Services. They help everyone, you don't need to be Catholic... or even Christian. If they can't help they can most likely find the correct people to help you. Please keep trying to find someone to help you.

Most likely metformin for starters. Remember, you can get most generic meds filled at Sams Club, Costco and other large chains (I think K-Mart is another one) for $4.00 per month. The meds will only help get your sugars down. You still need to eat the correct foods in the right amounts.

If you are not working yet you may want to take this time to go to the library and study up on diabetic diets and foods as well as glycemic numbers and the impact that foods have on your sugars. This could be the most important learning opportunity of your life... since your life depends upon how well you learn to eat right, exercise and manage stress. I wish there were some magic way to make this all better but you will have to buckle down and do your best to turn this thing around. It's not easy and it's not always fun...

But then when I read the obits every day I can usually find a person, about 45 or 50 who has passed away and the memoriam asks for donations to the American Diabetic Association, which usually means this person had died from complications of diabetes. For the most part these complications can be delayed or avoided through education and behavior changes. Like I said, not easy and not always fun... and the reward for being very good is that you get to be very good some more! And every now and then you can have a hissy fit and eat a donut or something awful... if you have been very good and your doctor permits.

The best part about staying on track is that you get to help others see the light, help others keep their feet and eyesight and stay off dialysis... hopefully for good. All we can do is KOKO! (Keep on keepin' on!) Keep doing your best. We are all pulling for you.
