Ok. Since I have had the pump I don't have hypos very often. But today I had one in a big way. Went to the lab for my fasting blood work. (I hate those.) Anyway, it was taking forever to get called back. I had left my meter on my kitchen table. I was feeling hungry, but figured I would be done real soon anyway. Well, I wasn't done real soon. Then I started feeling funny. Sat there a few minutes arguing with myself in my head as to if I was low or imagining it because I wanted out of there. Then I realize I am really low and I mean really low. So I walk straight into the lab. They said, "We haven't called your number yet." I said, "I know, but I am a diabetic. I have been fasting and I feel low." So they told me to sit down and they immediately took my blood. Results...27!!!! I popped my glucose tablets in my mouth while they took my daughter's blood. (She had tests today too.) In just a few minutes I was up to 82. I went and got breakfast with my daughter. Lessons learned: Never forget blood testing meter. Never assume just because I get less hypos that I won't have one. Never assume any lab is going to be fast!!! And always check your supply of glucose tablets. (fortunately I was good on that one)
