BS readings and metformin

 Hi everyone.  I want to ask about whether my readings are high and if I should contact my doctor about maybe taking metformin before bed time also.  In the mornings my BS readings are usaully 99 to 106 and when I take them other times of the day they are usually 85-90.  I take 500mg of metformin with breakfast and with dinner.  Do you all think I should see if my doctor thinks he needs to add metformin at bed time also?

Your numbers look great to me! If you have insurance I would ask your doctor for diabetes training and food classes. this is absolutely the best way to learn about your meds, numbers, food portions and foot care, eye care and all the other stuff we diabetics have to learn.

Did you know that if you up your exercise levels you may be able to prevent going on higher doses of medication? Doesn't work for everyone but the metformin does the same thing that your exercise does, it increases your body's ability to utilize its own insulin. Glad to meet a new friend here on the forum, but sorry for the reason.

Thanks for the support Jeannie.  I do have insurance and will ask about the classes.  I walk 30 minutes a day about 6 days a week.  If needed I could walk twice a day.  I was just wondering about the numbers being higher in the morning . . . I have just been diagnosed for 3 months and  it is nice to be able to go online and get other opinions without calling the doc all the time.
