First, as always, I think you should ask your doctor what readings he wants you to have because you're going to find lots of different numbers from different people and sources. I found (online) there are even different goals for those who have diabetes and those who don't. In any case, your morning fasting numbers of 115 and 120 are still too high in my opinion. Most sources say it should be under 100. BUT - an online source says for diabetics, it's ok between 90 and 130. For the 2-hour reading after meals (called the "postprandial" reading), one source says 100 - 120 for normals but for diabetics it should be under 160. Then, before bed, less than 120 for normals and between 110 and 150 for diabetics. I think most people here on the Forum would think those numbers for the diabetics are still too high. I hope others will jump in here and reply. What does everyone else try for?
Mamo, there are several factors that can be affecting the readings. You've just started the medication and you're probably still trying to figure out a different eating plan and lifestyle, so maybe your body hasn't settled into its new regime yet. Try to follow the advice for eating we've all given you here and as you become more comfortable with that and get into a daily exercise schedule like walking for 30 minutes, for example, your readings may improve. Also, don't forget that if you eat a really huge dinner or any other meal, you can have very high blood sugar readings 2 hours later just for that reason even if the food is perfectly fine. I'm sure the doctor will want to see you again and talk over how you're doing. When are you supposed to go back?
