Hi Joey, well, the nasty liquid is a glucose solution usually in an orange or other "flavor". It might even resemble cola but it is
not any kind of soft drink. It's rather syrupy and sickeningly sweet. You'll be doing this the first thing in the morning
before eating or drinking anything (sorry, no latte when you get up that day). They'll take a blood sample. You'll drink that solution within a few minutes, usually within 5 minutes. They'll take your blood again usually after an hour and then again after another hour. Some OGTT tests are 3 hours, so you might want to ask if yours is 2 or 3 hours. Bring something to read because you'll have to stay there. They don't want you walking around during the test. When they take your blood after 2 hours, you can go home. That's it. Depending on your test results, they'll tell you if you are normal, borderline or diabetic because each has its own parameters. Good luck.
