Hi everyone,
I posted quite a while ago to say I had been diagnosed with steroid induced diabetes. I was taken to hospital with a kidney infection / urospesis recently. The few days before this my blood sugar numbers were extremely low, 1.6, 1.9 and I was having problems with my balance. In the hospital they put me on an insulin infusion and iv antibiotics. They said something about the infection thriving off the sugars?? My levels in the hospital went from 1.9 and then shot up to 29.6 and everything inbetween! It took 3 days to get them under control. I was vomiting regularly and unable to eat so was on a drip. What i was wondering was, does having an infection affect the levels, and do the levels affect the infection?? Also are people who have diabetes prone to kidney infections? Really keen to avoid any of this happening again, I was so unwell and although I'm feeling much better today I still have pain and am very tired and worn out, still nauseaus too. Many thanks if you can help. x
