I blew my 134 days!

I blew my 134 days seizure free.  It took me 15 months to get 90 days seizure free so I could drive and it's all my fault.  I use a local pharmacy, not one that is open 24-7.  I was out of one of my seizure meds on Christmas Eve and called in a refill.  I didn't go there until after 2:00 and they were closed. I didn't realize they were closing early. I went a day and a half without it and I had a seizure.  As you would imagine, I am somewhat depressed about it.  I have to start all over from square one.  I still haven't gotten used to this starting over business.

They are now going to call me every 30 days to make sure I pick up my seizure medications, so that should help.

I'm so sorry Carla. Not a very merry Christmas for you then...

It's a drag to have to be so vigilant, isn't it? I forgot to take my meds a little over a week ago and didn't realize until I went to refill my pill box that night. By that time, I felt horrible but I didn't have a seizure. It made me realize how vulnerable I am though.

I keep a few extra pills in a pill-box in my purse just in case I realize I've forgotten a dose and am out of the house. I hadn't thought about it, but I guess that would also help me in a situation like yours.

Here's hoping this next holiday is a happier one!

It was Christmas Eve which made the situation so difficult to get in touch with anyone to do anything.  At least now after talking to my pharmacy, one of the pharmacists has marked it on her calendar and she will call me every 30 days when each of my three seizure medications are due to be picked up to make sure I get them.

They don't actually revoke your license in my state.  Since I know what caused it, when I am feeling a little better, I am planning to continue driving and tell my neurologist about it.  I see him in a month.
