Hi!

First of all, I wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself. I've been bouncing around the Healingwell forum for a while now.. started out at the MS one because I had spots on my MRI. Neurologist said "no MS" then I saw Rheumy who thought I had fibromayalgia. So far that dx. seems to make the most sense. Another Dr. who just prescribed vit B12 injections daily and Melatonin for sleep thought I had chronic fatigue.

In the meantime, the neuro orders 3 non-invasive tests. the evoked potential for the eyes and the BAER for the ears and an EEG.

The EEG showed brain waves that indicated an "irritation" and suggested possible seizure activities so now I have to have a 24 hr EEG. I have no idea what this is about. I have had lot's of symptoms that could be from anything... thyroid, MS, Lyme, CFS; Now this? The only thing I can think of is that sometimes I "stare" briefly. I just thought it was all part of my fibrofog. Can symptoms like vertigo, dizziness, be from seizures? I'm confused. Thanks for any input since this is all so new to me!

Hi there and Welcome to the Epilepsy Board!

Im not sure about Vertigo (Have never heard of it being a problem before) but Dizziness can definately be something that you get before or after. What you are calling Fibro-Fog could be Petit-Mal Seizures so its worth getting it checked out. At the same time though, it could be Fibro-Fog so try not to worry.

Well I had my 24 hr. EEG Thursday into Friday. I opted not to take my Lorazepam before going to bed at 11:30. I'm on Zoloft and it makes it hard to fall asleep at nite. I slept okay till my baby woke me up at 4:45 and then had a hard time falling asleep again; but I did.

Saw the Neurologist today and he didn't have the results back. He said he was suprised to see the brain wave test come back with these iritations. He gave me a good explanation of what it all meant. If it comes back again abnormal then it means I have an underlying seizure disorder. Whatever that means since I have never had a seizure in my life. He said he would call if their was a diagnosis and then prescribe me something.

So I have to wait another week to find out what the story is. Has anyone ever had this kind of thing?

We dont normally have this problem in the UK, mainly because it can take ages to get a follow-up appointment with the neuro! lol. Im glad that everything seems to have gone well... We just gotta keep our fingers crossed for the results

Tapetsryloom- I don't know if this well help you but pull up on the computer Dystonia. I have this disorder. Maybe your neurologist can research this for you. It was an answer to my prayers when they finally found the answers to what was happing to me.

hi! my name is twila and I just came from the doc and he mentioned a 24 hour EEG I'm unsure what all goes on with that or where it takes place? I had a stroke back in 2007 was being treated then lost insurance. while being without insurance I started having what I thought was mini strokes as its the only thing I knew and started after my big stroke. went to er on several occasions and they just sent me home. now that I'm back under a doctors care he's sent me to neuro for EEG nerve conduction test muscle test and MRI. all test pointing to nothing :/ so I'm left still trying to figure out what is going on its getting very frustrating and stressing me and my family out. my mom mentioned seizures and I did some research on them had no idea there was so many seizures!! I always thought seizures was fall on the ground convulsing. anyway from my own research I found that the atonic seizure matches me to a T so as soon as I'm called with a referral to go back to the neuro guess I'll find out more hopefully or I'll leave from there still confused. here is what takes place: I can't be around floured cent lights for longer then about 20 minutes the sunlight also affects me any way at any given time when it chooses to hit me I totally lose all muscle tone no strength what's so ever. I can hear my husband asking if I'm ok but I can't respond like I should be able to I can't walk without the help of someone I look like a unresponsive vegetable. after laying down for what seems like eternity prob 45 mins I'm ok back to my normal self but this is usually followed by an extremely bad headache and a very drained feeling. they don't all last this long but in october I experienced one that kept me in the bed for 5 days everytime I got out the bed thinkin it was safe another would hit. sometimes it's while being a passenger in a vehicle another time someone did a really shrill scream close to my ear and in that second I was like a vegetable. most times I'm just sitting in the couch. anyone have any knowledge of what this can be I'm desperate nothing shows on my test so far :/
