STRANGE "BRAIN ZAPS"-!

Hi friends--

So as not to take up too much space--Please read my lengthy post in the "Fibro" section--

Tho my Diagnosis....is "Benign Fasiculation Syndrome"...I also have had some strange...."head symptoms"....!   (like .."brain zaps".....)--Now realize I have been THOROUGHLY tested....for this...(TWO EEGs.....one a regular one...where they had me hyperventilate...flash strobes...etc....AND a 24 hour ambulatory EEG)--Where I actually FELT 3 or 4 .."brain zaps"....AND some myoclonus---BOTH....were .."normal"--(Was testing for..."Partial simple seizures"-!

The 24 hr ambulatory EEG......said...."Patient noted several 'brain zaps'.....there were no correlations....!

AND...one of my two neuros...is a nationally known....expert on Epilepsy....(giving lectures at Mayo Clinic...& written dozens...of articles in Epilepsy journals)----

Just curious as to...YOUR..."take"...on these strange feelings...in my head!

USUALLY...only happen before sleep-!  And..."NO"....I am not taking...or weaning off any SSRIs...!

As my neuro (epilepsy specialist)--said is his brief,...but concise e-mail to me...when I asked about the "brain zaps"...(after my...2 'normal'...EEGs)---he wrote---***

Hi!  You're not alone.  I just posted above you in a new thread on hypnic jerking.  Part of it is brain zaps as well... it's a hypnic jerk localized in the head, I was told.  Sounds like a knee cracking in my head.  If it awakens me from light sleep, it feels like I was zapped.  This type of jerking is not epileptiform, so no amount of testing (that is, unless you do a qEEg, will show anything at all.  This is what I'm being told. I did the same tests you did.  I don't care if the doctors say that it's not harmful, I CAN"T SLEEP.  It's ridiculous.  I need something like Ativan! at night to get me a little bit of sleep, to get me through the twitching.  This going on forever is not normal.  Hours and hours.. only at night when I'm lying down.  And my mouth parches, and then a band of low level pain on the top of my head in the back.  I have gone the route of electrolytes, osmolality testing, hormone replacement, pyroluria testing, etc. It feels like I will not find an answer at this point.  My histamine is too hight at night and I can't seem to lower it.  Found mold where I used to live, can't treat it (detox) because I parch at night if I try detoxing, or any anticholinergic.  This is getting so ridiculous.  The twitching puts me in an irritible mood.
