16 and Temp Lobe Epilepsy. PLS READ!

Hello,
i am 16 years old, and im so confused about what is happening with my head!
Im just going to explain my symptoms, and hope that someone understands!
I will be doing something, like watching tv, cooking, anything really normal, then all of a sudden, i get dizzy, then have a sense of de-javu. then i feel really ill in the stomach, and sometimes vomit, then i feel absolutely exhausted.
this started happening in 2005, when i was 11 and i was referred to a neurologist, and he wanted to perform surgery and put me on alot of medication. (epilem, lamotrogine, tegretol, ect.)
had lots of tests, (M.R.I plus C.T scans) and video monitoring for a week.
I stopped taking medication, and now i get this weird feeling probably twice a month. im not sure what to do, and just wanted to see if anyone else had similar symptoms.

Know what you are talking about..they are pretty similar to the type i have a lot of the time. Called complex partial seizures, and there are lots of places to read about them on the net. i know it's never great to have someone tell ya that there's something going on with ya that you don't want, but it is what it is. It can be controlled somewhat with medications. Without meds, it's going to happen more, that's perty much a sure thing.

Stopping the meds; that's kind of a way of denying what's going on. It doesn't make it go away, if anything it makes it worse. I guess you found that out already. I used to try to 'will it away' by concentrating on something else, but once it starts, it just runs its course until it's done. Taking the meds at least makes them happen a LOT less often.

all tests must have concluded to findings u r supposed to do as per medical advice, however u r a child and there is a best way to control with ur regular medication. get more infermation about ''ketogenic'' diet from sites and consult it with ur doctor, hopefully it will work for u. ketogenic diet is adviced specially for children

What you are experiencing is what is called temporal lobe seizures. I have had this condition for 25 years and I can very much relate towhat you are talking about. The experiences I have I have told doctors there are no words for. I remember my past experiences sometimes and the memory has "smell" to it. This is an illness that should not go untreated. Have you told your family? If you haven't, you need to do this asap. I understand exactly what you are going through.

Hello Onlyhuman87, I aslo know what you are going through, I have had the same exact symtoms, dizzy, nausa, weird smells and the tiredness afterwards please let you family know what is going on and whatever you doctor prescribe take it as far as meds go, as far as surgery I would allways get a second opinion. I was put on meds for my episoids and it helped untill recently, I took them consistanly but the seizures got worse and I started to have twiching and hearing voices befor it happened he diagnosed me with temporal lobe epilepsy, my mri was normal but he said sometimes mris dont pick up the temporl lobe seizures, he put me on Keppra and I am still taking the Neuoton hopeing that keeps it under control, know you are not alone, it can be a scary thing, but not taking your meds to help control them will be even scarier. good luck

I too have had temporal lobe seizures for many years. My EEG shows it but not a MRI. My seizures have changed over the years from de ja vu to smells to almost a halucination of sorts. They have always gotten worse over time if I stop my medication. I am on Keppra 1500mg. It controls them. I also have horrible memory loss from it. I hope you don't experience that as well. My doctor has always told me to continue taking my meds because they can easily turn to Grand Mal Seizures. Be sure to talk to your doctor about this. The last thing you want is to not remember your teenage years, your adult years, ect....

Hey chels.
Iv not been diagnosed with epilepsy or non epilepsy seizures. I'm 17 an finding it hard im on (lamotrigine aswell) and i dont know what my seizures are. i have ones that are like deja vu and sometimes i just feel very dizzy an collapse i hear everything going on an i find it really hard to cope because i feel trapped.
Im seeing a neurologist. Been put in hospital an couldn't get anything from my blood. Irregular brain activity on my EEG an on my heart monitor?
ANYONE GOING THROUGH ANYTHING SIMILAR?
