tappering off dilantin

i have been on dilantin since i was 16 when i had 2 seizures in my sleep while i was taking phenobarbital for sleeping after a car accident

back then they gave me a EEG and it showed seizure activity now they believe it only showed that because the phenobarbital use andn o seizure

so now i am 30 and seizure free ever since
seen my first neurologist in 14 years this year and wants me to tapper off the dilantin
my levels are always low only 3.5 should be between 10-20

so will i have a seizure if i tapper off the dilantin i am scared?

No one can really answer that one for you.  You must be hardly be taking any seizure meds to be that low. Being that low, You take a risk every day.  I suffered a brain injury which resulted in two seizures.  I have not had one in 7 years.  I hate taking my dilantin, but I'm not going to take a chance of having a seizure while driving and killing myself or someone else.

If I were you get two or three opinions and go from there.

i have gad 3 they are all the same opinion im not epileptic
and i take 400mg every night and it is still always LOW no matter what i even went up from 300mg to 400mg and it never raised
thats why they think i dont need it
