Seizure detection dog

This may be a long shot, but...

I am in possession of a dog that was abandoned by its owner. I have been told that this dog was the man's service dog for PTSD and seizures. I am now trying to re-home this dog and am hoping he may be able to be used in this capacity again. I don't really know where to start, but I thought message boards might work.

If you or someone you know is looking for a seizure detection dog, and would like to try him out (I have no proof he can actually do it, but I have seen photos of him in NYC with his service dog badge) please send me a message. I am NOT here to sell him and make money... just to find him a home and hopefully help someone out! I'm even going to try to get him neutered, vaccinated, and tested for heartworms before going to a new home. It seems like such a waste to not put his abilities to use!

That is a wonderful thought and I wish I could take this dog. Unfortunately I do live with people who do not like dogs...husband and mom, so I cannot adopt him. I'm the one with epilepsy and a lot of times my mom and my husband are gone and I'm afraid to even take a shower. Now, I don't want my mom and husband in the shower, but I would sure take in a sweet dog!

I'm sorry to hear about your situation! It's too bad you can't have a dog to assist you. Hopefully I'll be able to find someone who can give him a good home in return for him making their lives safer/easier!

Trinity, I suggest that you contact the Epilepsy Foundation through their website, www.epilepsyfoundation.org and get the names and contacts of their organization members in your area. Maybe through one of them (and their network of family, friends, medical professionals, etc.) you could find a person who would benefit from a therapy dog. Good luck.
