abnormal EEG but doctor says seizures are pseudo seizures?

I haven't had a neurologist for a while because of non being able to afford one and because I can't drive and there are none in my city.

When I could I was told that I have epileptic seizures and pseudo-seizures.  I know how my NES seizures were, and I don't have that kind anymore.

I also had one doctor say that the ones I stayed conscious for were NES (non-epileptic seizures) but the ones I lost consciousness were epileptic.

My doctor now is a family doctor.  He says they are pseudo seizures, which if I'm right is the same as NES. And everything I read online says NES seizures are panic attacks.

I don't have panic attacks. I know my body and how I react to depression and emotional problems and this is not it.

Can you have an abnormal EEG and have NES? I think so because some people have both NES and epileptic seizures. I used to but haven't had NES for many years, over 13 years. And the NES only happened when I wasn't depressed.

How do I convince him that I would know if I had an NES. I don't care that NES can duplicate any type of epileptic ones and the ones that were NES looked like a different kind. More like Jacksonian seizures that were only in usually one arm but occasionally both. These are epileptic seizures.

I'll accept that I used to have both types and that there were a lot of NES in one period of my life but I never had a time where all were NES, only both.  I know my body and what I have. These aren't panic attacks or NES.

He's never seen one. He knows through my leaving messages on his medical assistant's machine, that I can feel my body when I come out of it and feel like I am coming forward, so am guessing I go back in the seizures (more like myoclonic in a way) and that I have fallen at times. 

I'm angry now.  He can believe what he wants.  He knows I have an abnormal EEG with both sides being abnormal.

Today is my first post. Have been sick for two years Rhumy just says fibro. So sick I had to quit a successful job. Couldn't walk back leg hip neck pain loss of weight a swirling sensation in my head dizzy. Etc. For two years now I excercise and just get through. But I didn't test for Lyme but IGeneX test revel some bacteria but cdc days no. Went to LLMD in Nj said that I need abx as I have some sort of a tick borne illness. All other docs just say fibro. I don't mind to try abx but afraid it just make me sicker. And what if I am taking for no reason at all? Sad. Deprrssed. Confused. Had nervous breakdown. It was really sad times. Any advice?

I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 1997, but my doctor that I had told me I had Psuedo seizures which are NES, yet my EEG came back with brain abnormalities, since the cause of my epilepsy is still unknown, when the EEG says I have abnormal brain function, disregarding the type of seizures I had, they automatically put me as Epileptic, despite having psuedo seizures, as well as generalised epileptic seizures and absense seizures.

Find another better Doctor.

Indeed, find a better doctor. Alas, finding a good one isn't that easy. I had luck with mine; a good neurologist who was also at the time the dean of medicine at the local hospital here in Belgium.

I got epilepsy from unknown causes, although being run over by a car (guy tried to kill me) is number one on the list.

Couple of things: Non-epileptic seizures are seizures caused by anything but epilepsy (obvious not). This can be a chemical imbalance (meds, wrong diet, poisoning, etc.), extreme conditions (heat, cold, radiation, etc.), or simply a side effect of another medical condition (heart failure, lung failure, etc.). In the case of radiation, your worries will be over with 20 minutes BTW.

Epileptic seizure come in two categories these days: those where one looses consciousness, and hose where one doesn't. In the old days, seizures were categorized by the physical force of the seizures with the strongest category being (grand mal) where you could break bones, dislocate joints or even rupture organs. These are sometimes still used in Europe to indicate the most serious cases.

What you need is simple meds against seizures, that's it. It's often a question of trial and error to find the right ones and the right dose. Trouble is, here in Belgium, only neurologist can determine you have epilepsy and prescribe the first batch of meds after which a family doctor may take over. In any case, you'll have to see a neurologist.

Morgoth, You are indeed lucky. My epilepsy is also from unknown causes but as the medication changes over the years so has my epilepsy, only to worsen.. Nothing on the MRI, mostly when I stress then my depression comes on and then my epilepsy makes itself known.
