What to do?

Kimmy had another seizure though not as severe as they had been. She says her throat feels weird when she is going into one. Gets ringing in her ears. I've been doing a lot of reading and find that seizures that are from the temporal lobe are hard to control with meds. Her last one was "mild" though. Anyway , her doctor had her on homebound. She wants to go back and he said she can but he thinks she is not ready. I'm tending to listen to the doctor. She will listen to him but I see the tears. I'm so worried about her. I wouldn't give up her health for anything. I'm going to let her post to just vent a little. Hope you guys can cheer her up.

By the way I've also heard that there can be short term memory problems with this type seizure. Anyone experienced this?

It is so hard for a teen who wants to be in school and should not. Is there a way to talk to the neuro about her being in maybe one class or activity? This way she can still connect with kids and feel a part of the school? I do not know if this would make it harder on her or better. Worth asking her though.....

Yes, memory issues can be from seizures as well as some medications. My son has a lot of issues with memory when he has a lot of seizures. Lots of work to make things stick in there, repetition, reminders, written notes and reviewing. Using ALL senses to try and get the info in there seems to help him (IE typing things out, reading them outloud, reviewing them, repeating it, hearing it on tape or with me reading.....) He is 14

yes, it sure is emotionally exhausting for sure! I have been through this with my son for over half his life now. His sister is 16 and had smaller seizures for about 1.5 years and they both had it affect school and social life.

YOu might try and get her to keep a journal about how she feels....it is tough. My kids will sometimes talk about the stresses, and other times kind of shut down and not talk...have to find those moments when they will....

Does she have friends you can have over with her?
