I'm new here, and here solely to help my dear Wife.
a long story...sorry
10 years ago, my wife had a seizure. That was it, none since.
At the time, they said it "May have been" an epileptic seizure, and that was all they gave her..well not quite...
They prescribed Depakote.
and no small dose either.
She has no family history, and no other health problems.
The day she had this seizure, she was in a large store, the outdoor temperature was near 100 degrees, she went into the air conditioned store, and fainted, she was going through a divorce at the time, and had her daughter nagging her to "spend Money".So Stress, pressure, and the transiition from a 100 degree day to a "goose pimple cold store", in her opinion is what caused it.
She does not believe that she has, or ever had a ep. seizure, she hates the depakote, it has such an effect on her memory.
Where the problem lies is 1. Once prescribed by any doctor, all others are "reluctant" to take her off the depakote.
Problem 2 is, That the whole medical and drug industry WANTS you to be on maintenance medicine, to line their own pockets.
So, I ask you, where does one go to get an unbiased opinion, the doctors are not willing, in their words, to doubt the original diagnoses, even though this was one isolated incident, 10 years ago, with none since.
any advice will be greatly appreciated, and yes, the reason I am asking this question is, she cannot keep focused for this amount of time.
