Dilantin substitute?

Dilantin is produced by Phizer in Holland Mi. Phizer has been unable to formulate a product that produces exactly the same effects as the Dilantin made in Holland Mi. in any of their other plants. They are closing the Holland plant. Does any one know of a generic that works as well as Dilantin.

I am no expert, but have had seizure disorder since I was 4.

Couple years ago, 2 I think, the pharmacy started giving me

Phenytoin Sodium (hope spelling is right) in place of dilantin,

so I'm assuming it's the generic. I've had no problem at all with it.

But again, I'd definitely check

with my Doctor before changing any meds. Good luck!

I have been using the substitute for dilantin "Phenytoin" as duvlady had mentioned, been using it since 1979.

Welcome to the forum! I don't post here often, and definitely have no first hand knowledge of dilantin. I can see that you have gotten some good advice from those who know! So I guess I just wanted to say Hi! and Welcome! And always rememeber if you have a question ask away!
