For the last two years I have been feeling extremely tired. To the point that at almost any point in the day I could simply put my head down and sleep. This would happen regardless of how much or how little sleep I got the previous night. In addition, quite frequently I would feel a numbness on my entire left side. My foot and hand would both feel as though they were asleep. This affected my balance and my grip. Within the last couple of months, I started experiencing disorientation and extreme confusion. I would find myself in a situation where I wasn’t sure what I had been doing for the last few seconds. In the last month, I started stammering a lot. I started losing my train of thought in the middle of a sentence. In the last two weeks, I started slurring my words. As my words would start to slur I would feel a tugging sensation in my brain above the left eye. It literally felt as id someone had tied a string around my brain and was trying to pull it out through my eye. Then… Last week while at the allergist, I had a seizure. I remember sitting in the waiting then the next thing I knew the Doctor was frantically shaking me saying my name over and over. I remember seeing him as I opened my eyes and wondering why he was shaking me and why was he “here”. I then remember him shaking me again. I asked him why he wouldn’t leave me alone and let me sleep. He said he had called 911 and they were on their way. I asked him why would he call them. He said it was because I was having seizures and I was passing out in the waiting room. SEIZURES!!!!!! What the BLEEP!!!!! I don’t have seizures, what is he talking about. Now I know what he was talking about. I have been told I have TLE and that I had been having seizures all along. I just didn’t know they were seizures.
So now, where do I go from here? I’ve started medication, I’ll be getting EEG’s MRI,s, the works (AKA PIA). I still have a lot of questions though, For instance, I thought epilepsy was a hit and run type of problem. That the person would have a seizure, come out if it, and live happily until the next one hit. My problem is is that I feel worn out all the time,. My left side is still numb, it hurts to walk, I’m always afraid I am going to fall over. My vision fluctuates. Sometimes my keyboard looks magnified, other times I can’t read the keys. When I walk out of LA Fitness I can ‘t see where the sidewalk curb ends and the parking lot begins cause they are the same color. My wife holds on to my arm to make sure I don’t fall. My head still hurts all the time. Particularly above my left eye. I always feel tired and sudden movements make me dizzy. It’s as if I can feel my brain move in my head. And, I have to use the restroom every twenty minutes or so, I get extreme feelings of déjà vu. At a grocery store I’ll start thinking that I know everyone. Everyone looks familiar.
Other than just venting my frustrations I am trying to get to a questions…. Are these all symptoms of TLE or am I just going crazy?
