Hi guys!!!

Last week, at the gym, I went down with what iwa stold was a seizure ( emerrgency room doctor ). It was fairly bit, likely what is known as Gran mal on here! Only ohter seizure I have ever had, 6-7 years ago, was when in withdrawl from a stupid drinking extravagance! I am waititn to see doc! The 4 months prior to this I averaged 4-5 hours of sleep per night and was in fairly substantial stress becaus eof "ghirl problems". I'm 46 and a daily gym guy!   I am hoping that this happened becuase of  lack of sleep.stress and will not reoccur! Any thoughts????

Stress is a main trigger for non-epilectic seizures or lack of sleep.

It would be great if you could cut down the stress(easy said)

It's good you are going to see a Doctor and get tested to be sure. Don't let it go.

Hey Ran!!!

I'm reall terrified that this guy will tell me to not drive for 6 months! I'm a single dad of a diabetic kid and my income is it in this house!!! This is a total nightmare! Any info on prevelence of non epiletic gran mals or anything at all would be appreciated! I am also terrified of being mis diagnosed or something! Other than feeling way behind on sleep I feel fine!!!

Do you drive????

Calebvision....The rules on driving vary from area to area. However, if this occurred because of fatigue and stress and not because you have epilepsy then you may not lose your driving rights. Also, always remember that you have the right to a second opinion or even a third so you should be safe from being misdiagnosed. Welcome to the boards and good luck. Please keep us posted.

The ER doctor, who seemed very shaky, wrote on my "dismissal paper" that I "can't" drive without being cleared by a Neuro. Does anyone know whther I can drive until there is an offical diagnosis???  I have afeeling that I may need a second opinion on this! I have no idea what it is but I do know that I had been simply exausted for 4 months averaging 4-5 hours sleep per night!

The fact that it happened after a vigorous bike ride may or  may not be a factor! I suppose that syncope is always apossibility but that didn;t seem to be considered at the ER! I regainde my "bearings" real quick and even used my cell to place some calls from the ambulance. Whther that means anything or not......I simply don't know!
