HI CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH WHAT IM GOING THROGH!!!!
ive been seeing a new psychiatrist and says i display signs of tle
im suffered from major episopes of deppresion,anxiety,and mainly the fellings of unreality and the fear of my own death for close to 30yrs now
i am curently feeling as if im not realy here as if every thing around me is strange but yet a know what every thing is.
life is not flowing
it is very hard to describe in words
i get anxiety when i think of my own death which snowballs into the unrealty feelings.
curently started on tegretol only small dose 400mg
and continuing on my depression med effexor 150mg
would really like to here from any one who goes through
this kind of thing

Hi-
Take a deep breath and know you are not alone. Sadly it also isn't uncommon for some types of epilepsy to go undiagnosised. The good news is now that you are being treated, you should be on the road to controlling many of the symptoms you discribed.

"Seizure is often associated with a sudden and involuntary contraction of a group of muscles. However, a seizure can also be as subtle as marching numbness of a part of the body, a brief loss of memory, sparkling or flashes, sensing an unpleasant odor, a strange epigastric sensation or a sensation of fear. Therefore seizures are typically classified as motor, sensory, autonomic, emotional or cognitive." (Found this on Wikipedia.) If your doctor can sit down with you and out line the projected time line for your Tegretol to start working it may ease your mind. Epilepsy is different for everyone, but one constant is a need to have open communication with your loved ones and physican. Most cities have epilepsy support groups and some have out reach programs to assist with transportation issues.

Depression is commonly linked to epilepsy. The first suggestion keep a log of your daily activities and feelings, like a diary. Take it with you to your doctors appointment, to track you progress with your medication.

Many of us been where you are now, and maybe there again. WE all have good days and some not so good. Sometimes you have to change your meds or make other adjustments to be the healthest you can be. My seizures were diagnosised about a year and a half ago. For me it was a relief to know what was going on but I was overwhelmed at the same time. Give yourself a hug and know things will get better.

I was just diagnosed last August and this forum has been a lifesaver for me.  I am 56 and my seizures are still not under control and I get a little bummed out from time to time, but I just check in here and someone always lifts my spirits.

Like Carla, I want to echo that (as well as many others) my inbox is always open. Epilepsy is just as difficult to deal with as any other disorder and I think that doctors lose sight of that sometimes. Have you tried posing in the Depression forum as well? I dont remember seeing your name. (But then again I look at LOADS of names everyday... I could have missed it!) You may find some support there too.
