As of today, November 10, 2007, I am finally 90 days seizure free and can legally drive in my state.  It has taken me 15 months to get here.  I can't drive in the next state over where my neurologist is, you have to be six months seizure free there.  But, I should count my blessings that I don't have a wait a year like Darren does.  Darren, you might want to think about moving to the U. S.  You are almost there too.

CONGRATS Carla!!! Im so glad that you have made it. It sucks that you cannot drive to the neuro but hopefully it will only be another 90 days before you can do that. I can still remember how my last seizure felt as if it was yesterday... fortunately it was over 11 months ago. I have just 22 days to go and I will have done my year. Ironically, by the time I get my licence back, I probably wont be able to afford to run a car!! lol But its the achievement that counts.

I think its great that we all support each other here... like one big family.

Congrats Carla...I remember waiting to get my drivers license(I was 22)before my seizures calmed down. Keep being positive cuz it will help w/ your stress also. TC Nicole

That's great Carla!!!

It must feel great to have that freedom and independence again, I wish I could.

I've driven my whole adult life from 1979 to 2002 when I had my first seizure in 22 years in a WAL MART parking lot.

My d-licence was taken away and it felt like my freedom was taken away with it, they may as well have shot me.

I'm from Ontario, Canada and up here we have a 2 year seizure free window.

I'm way past that now but I don't want to take the chance, knowing that I have a "seizure condition" plus my insurance policy would be astronomical.

Thanks for your support.  I understand you not wanting to take the chance.  I bet your insurance would be out of sight.  So, how long has it been since you have been able to drive?  I surely does take away your freedom.

I hate knowing that if I'm in a grocery store or where ever I am, that someone is waiting on me.  I can't take a cab even if I wanted to because of my severe asthma.  The cabs here are not smoke free and we don't have public transportation.

Randy, I hate that your situation is such that it is.  I do know you have helped an awful lot of people on this forum.  I responded to you on the neuropsych eval. last night and it disappeared.  I'll have to do it again.
